Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice focuses on various aspects of family issues. She concentrates a large portion of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes, divorce property distribution child custody battles child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions and concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as probate, wills, trusts, and estate administration, in addition to commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019, assisting parties in helping them resolve their matters without need for litigation and court involvement. Ashley mediates private cases and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who wish to avoid court processes and litigation.
After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. The primary goal of the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases dealing with child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts played a significant role in helping children who were victims of in the face of neglect or abuse at of their caregivers or parents. Her commitment to social injustice transcended her legal career as she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law including divorce child support, custody, and guardianships, as well in estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the goal of providing an individual approach to each client's needs.
